Guests arrive in the afternoon or evening prior to Day 1 so that in the morning we are able to complete what will be a full schedule for the first day.  We can provide or arrange transportation from the Charleston International Airport to the hotel if desired.

After checking in at the award winning Vendue Hotel, we will set you up on a rental bike or ensure your personal bike is ready to ride in the morning.  Then it's time to enjoy some Southern hospitality during a wonderful Charleston dinner and discuss the adventure you are about to experience.

Day 1 (Meals - all)

Patriots Point Naval Park in Charleston, SC

We start the day early as this will be a very full day of riding and activities.  After breakfast, we roll out from downtown Charleston to capture the expansive views of Charleston Harbor from the Cooper River Bridge, also referred to as the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge.  Then we head through the Historic District of Old Village Mount Pleasant passing charming homes and quiet streets.  As we cross over the Intracoastal Waterway, it's common to see sailboats and motorboats cruising along this picturesque waterway.  Our first stop is a visit to Fort Moultrie.  Then we relax for lunch on Sullivan's Island at a popular restaurant with a decadent menu.  We'll back-track from the morning route as we head to Patriots Point after lunch, where we'll take a boat ride to Fort Sumter and tour this important part of American history.  At the conclusion of the boat tour, you'll have a couple of hours on your own to tour Navy ships at the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.  The day ends with a Southern dinner at an award winning upscale locale.

Day 2 (Meals - all)

Oak tree canopied road near Charleston, SC

Today we'll find breakfast at a Charleston staple restaurant and then make our way out of downtown, crossing over the Ashley River, as we ride to Folly Beach which is a barrier island and popular beach town.  Here we'll see this beach community by land as we ride and later from the water during either a kayak tour of the marshes or a boat tour to Morris Island by Charleston Outdoor Adventures.  There is a very good chance you'll see dolphins during one of these water adventures.  Lunch will allow us to refuel before pedaling back to downtown including along streets canopied with moss covered oak trees.  Once you freshen up from riding, we'll take a horse and carriage tour of historic Charleston to hear about White Point Park, Rainbow Row, and other points of interest.  For dinner tonight, you will have the choice of selecting a restaurant from several hand-picked recommendations depending on what your palate desires.  There will be time this evening to explore downtown Charleston on your own including some recommended destinations such as the Charleston City Market (dating back to the 1800's); shopping on King Street; taking a guided walking, pirate, or ghost tour of the historic district; enjoying the tranquility of the waterfront; or a stroll along The Battery and through White Point Park at sunset.

Day 3 (Meals - Breakfast, Lunch)

On the last day of this tour we'll ride back across the Ashley River after a tasty Southern breakfast to tour the Charleston Tea Plantation, which is the only working tea plantation in North America, and see the massive Angel Oak tree, estimated to be 400-500+ years old.  Learn the process of growing, harvesting, and making tea ready to enjoy on a guided tour of the plantation.  Lunch will be provided at the plantation before we head to the Angel Oak tree and then back to downtown Charleston.

Depending on your schedule, you will have time to shower and change so that you may either do more exploring on your own in historic downtown Charleston or travel directly to the airport for a departing flight.  Again, we are happy to arrange or provide transportation to the Charleston International Airport according to your schedule.

Additional information

To reduce knee, shoulder, back, and neck issues and increase your daily comfort, it is highly recommended guests bring their own bicycle.  If you need to ship your bicycle, we are able to provide the name of a preferred partner bike shop that will professionally unpack, assemble, prepare your bicycle for the tour, and store the box for use when shipping back home.  Bike shops charge a nominal fee to assemble and prepare a bike and a separate fee to break-down and repack a bike for shipment.  You might also consider self-assembly and break-down of your bike by shipping to your pre-tour hotel.  Most hotels will store the bicycle box during the tour but check beforehand to confirm.

If you prefer to rent a bicycle, please indicate your desire on the reservation form.  There will be a charge associated with renting a bicycle that will be determined at the time of your request and dependant upon the equipment selected.
